Does not mention you have to set the course mode at https://{site}/admin/course_modes/coursemode/
For certificate generation, you have to set certificate generation course settings at https://{site}/admin/certificates/certificategenerationcoursesetting
If switching from old to new discussion forums, you have to remove all discussion XBlocks, and enable discussion forums on all the units you want discussions on.
Make sure all sections have been Published.
