Migrate to Material Symbols #138
Description
Google suggests migrating to Material Symbols from Material Icons, stating that Material Icons will no longer receive updates and that Material Symbols will. Material Symbols is also distributed as a variable font, which Material Icons is not, giving it some nice additional performance characteristics.
Material Symbols are supported by Fontsource, which we currently use for Material Icons, so transitioning should be relatively straightforward. However, they are not yet supported by Angular Material, so we might need to make some additional changes described in that GitHub issue to make them work correctly.
